ABUJA – President-Elect, Mohammadu Buhari on Sunday commended the forgiving spirit of Emir of Borgu, Niger state, Dr Halliru Dantoro who he detained while investigating corrupt leaders during his regime between 1983 and 1985.
Buhari said as the Head of State, he took responsibility for the actions of his government including those not directly instructed by him.
He thanked the Emir for not holding such against him even though he revealed that they had long reconciled.
Buhari made the remarks during a congratulatory visit on him in Abuja by the emir who led a delegation of his Council members.
He equally expressed gratitude to other leaders such as former minister Finance and Agriculture, Mallam Adamu Ciroma for not personally holding him responsible on the fate they suffered in his government, promising that as a democratically elected President, he would ensure fairness and justice for all Nigerians.
Responding, the Emir pledged the support of his people to ensure the success of Buhari’s government.
